Things I Did in Bora

Written by kring on May 29th, 2009. Posted in Places and Travel

Being Bora virgins (most of us, at least), my friends and I were really excited to spend a weekend in the island. Sure, we did look forward to the sun, sand and sea, but honestly, I think we wanted to spread “crack” and “crazy” more. In fairness to us, we succeeded.

Gerry’s Gang goes to Bora!

Anyway, here’s a quick recap of our Bora trip, as told in pictures. WARNING: IMAGE-HEAVY!

Things I did in Bora…

1. EAT

I’m not ashamed to admit that I starved my self to death kinda went on a diet a month before the vacation. Swimsuits are tiny and I wanted to fit in them without looking like a loaf. However, soon as we got out of the hotel, I pretty much forgot about my figure and ate like a hungry truck driver.

Non-spicy Indian food of win (I can’t eat spicy food, remember? Much to the dismay of Wil and Trina)

The famous Jona’s shakes, Trina’s iced tea, my tap water and Mishi’s boobs

2. SWIM

Boracay is known for its clear water and powdery-white sand. You can practically see fishes swimming around, perhaps waiting for you to make them into sashimi or something. If you are going there just to frolic by the shore, trying to lure guys with your teeny gold bikini, then you are made of pure fail and lulz.

Let’s just pretend I’m wet and in the water. I did go swimming, really, but nobody took a photo. -_-

There you go… a candid pic in the water. Wtf was I doing?

3. BASK UNDER THE SUN

I never leave the house without an umbrella. That’s a fact. However, I didn’t want to go back to Manila looking like I overdosed on glutathione so I really worked on my tan and made sure my skin was sun-kissed. My SPF 200 didn’t help that much though.

Dear sarong, once again, you saved the day.

This is how you get a zebra-patterned tanline

4. DRINK AND DANCE

Wherever I go, I make sure these two things are part of my itenerary. Bora is famous for its nightlife and it definitely didn’t disappoint (although I like my beaches quiet and uncrowded).

At the Juice (or something…)

Alcohol and sand, perfect combination! Btw, that’s G3, Tracy’s friend in a white wife beater, I think…

Partyin’ in our flip flops, with no make-up on! woot!

4. WORK

I am not a workaholic. I am not a slave of my job. This is but a career investment. I will become successful someday. *mentally chants over and over again*. Yes, I hate to say but I kind of had to work while on vacation. Wrote a script, made a report and gathered pegs for a client. IKR?

Iz in ur ehrport, mekking a pruzuntations.

5. SNORKEL

OMG I lllooovveeee snorkeling! I’ve been to Palawan before so the Bora fishes/corals didn’t really impress me that much (I even enjoyed Batangas more) but heh, it’s still snorkeling. Our experience turned out to be made of slapstick comedy, thanks to our friends who couldn’t swim – one of them freaking out over a “big, blue, tilapia-looking fish” (which she suspected to be a barracuda) and the other over an eel who was swimming under her belly.

6. CAM-WHORE

Let the photos do the explaning.

This un-photoshopped pic is officially my favorite.

Of course, you can’t miss having a picnic while in Bora. It has to be on bamboo, too.

The obligatory jump shot

umahon ka at iniwan akong mag-isa

napagod ka at ako’y lumalangoy mag-isa”

Other events worth taking note of:

- It rained sssoooo hard on Saturday night that Mishi, Trina and I ended up running back to the hotel, under the rain, in our bikinis. I swear, it was like a scene from some B movie.

- Mishi suffered from an allergic reaction to Mefanamic acid. Her eyes got muddaeffin’ swollen.

- Two words: SEAFOOD. BUFFET.

Will I go back to Bora? Of course! Though I thought the place is a bit overrated, it still is magnificently beautiful. Like serious. And as always, I had soooo much fun at Bora because of the awesome people I was with. So, what’s next, guys? Bohol? Batanes? I say somewhere… far! Like Sulu. Yeah. I heard they have virgin white beaches there!
