I first heard of the term “geographically undesirable” from my boss, who actually claims that he and his friends coined the phrase some five to eight years ago. Riiiiight. I’m not saying he’s lying or what, but for all we know, it could’ve been La Toya Jackson or Abby Viduya who came up with that term.

Anyway.

What does it mean exactly? According to Urban Dictionary (excuse the fact that I get most of my info from UD and Encyclopediaramatica), a geographically undesirable person is “someone who you would like to date, but the fact that they live so darn far away is a problem”.

Sheesh, I never thought I’d write about this but… someone had finally used that term on me. In my face. And I was pwned.

It’s common knowledge that I live far away. I’m technically from Novaliches but my house is about 3-5 minutes from SM Fairview. Yes, stalkers. I had just given you ammunition. Growing up, I only had to walk to school so it never really dawned on me that we live in the “suburbs” lol until I went to college. And because I don’t have a car, I spend about 3 hours commuting to and from work every single fucking day. If I wanted to take a cab from say, Megamall, the fare would be about Php 230-250.

So yes, sir. I am very much aware that I live far from civilization. And thank you for reminding me that the fact that I’m “geographically undesirable” is one of the many factors why I remain single. Appreciate that.

If you think about it, really, it’s kind of funny.

Second dates rarely happen once they guy has driven me home and I’d really like to believe, it’s because of the hiking gas prices though some say, too, that I’m either too intimidating or too loud or too whatever but that’s for another entry. No bursting of bubbles, please.

There are those who gladly drive (or take a cab with) me home and seriously, you have no idea how much I appreciate them, especially if they live far, too AND if they still ask me out regardless. I’ve also experienced taking a cab home by myself after I’ve been asked out, especially when the guy finds out during our conversation that I live 20 minutes away from Meycauyan. Hey, it’s okay, yo! I grew up listening to Destiny’s Child. I’m an independent woman, to the left to the left.

At the end of the day, however, I believe that if you really reeeaaalllyyy like someone, distance shouldn’t be an issue, as age and looks shouldn’t be, too. But whatever, we have our preferences and gas is in fact, really expensive. ALSO. Just in case you may think I’m being desperate again, blogging about the fact that I don’t get asked out enough, well, you can shut your face now. I’m just sharing my thoughts on this.

    Being loud isn’t that bad. Some guys actually find loud women who commit social suicide on a regular basis, cute. So don’t lose hope. ‘kay ;)

    Most likely you can imagine a guy dating you would have to have the ability to spend a lot. Yes kring, your guy is most likely to be one pot of gold ;) -joke lang-

    but yeah, i agree, distance is a great test of faith and trust.

    Teka, ha. Tatagalugin natin to para makapang-balahura ako ng maayos. Hindi dapat maging issue ang distance kung gusto ka talaga ng mga tao. Ano ba naman ang GAS, kung ang kapalit ay mga ginintuang sandali kasama ka?! Heller?!

    The guys who made an issue out of distance, mebbe they’re not just that into you. Which makes them idiots, in my book. No, wait. Make that… jackasses. Indios. Mga hangal. Hunghang. Nasa pwet ang utak. You know what I mean? Yeah? Got it? Mga tanga.

    Wag kang mag-alala, teh. May dadating din na fafa-ble na hahamakin ang lahat, makasama ka lang. SA NGALAN NG PAGIBIG NA WAGAS. Yeba. I’m kinda talking from experience here. Read. Antipolo-QC. And we’re still ok. But let’s not get into that, else you (and somebody else I know) would kick me in the shin for being mushy and shit like that.

    pareho tayo ng problema. haha! i’ve discussed this with my dad and my mom before. Sabi ko walang maggugusto na ilabas ako kasi taga-Laguna ako (at malapit sa Enchanted Kingdom). Kawawa naman siya kung ihahatid niya ako pauwi pero taga Maynila siya. haha! sabi ng mom ko, pahatid ka na lang hanggang bus station. >.<

    “geographically undesirable”… i like the sound of it.
    pero at first akala ko it meant “di lang patok ang beauty mo sa kun asan ka” which meant = RELOCATE! hehehe~
    anyway… kung sa distansya pala nasusukat ang pagmamahal, try mo minsan from makati pahatid muna sa cubao, tapos qc, tapos saka mo hiritan ng fairview hehe~ masubukan siya. hehehe~

    if the guy is really interested in a girl being far is not an issue.
    I know a guy courting someone. He’s taking the girl home from Batangas to Quezon Province every single day. And when the guy have taken the girl home the guy will go back again to Batangas.

    I’ve never been called that (nor have I heard of such a term), but since I am also from Novaliches (a few minutes away from SM Fairview as well!) and currently moved to another part of the same “suburb” (?), I think that the distance would probably pose a problem for future suitors (hehe). I’m with ya on this with girl.
