The DBSK Fangirl
Back in the day when acne still ruled my face and Hero Angeles was still famous, I once fangirl-ed Dong Bang Shin Ki. Nay, I didn’t just fangirl them (shut up. “fangirling” is a verb), I spent my waking hours worshiping the boys and thanking the heavens for their existence. Of course, I was still stupid then and had waaaayyyy too much time in my hands. Also it only lasted for a couple of months but if not for the Gods of the East, I wouldn’t have known Kpop (and in essence, TOP and Jimmy Kim), nor would I have met all those wonderful fandom friends.

Gia? Really? If this is not old school, I dunno what is. (Wait I still have that clip of Harisu making Changmin cry!)
Sorry, I just had to post these here because as I was scouring my old photobucket account, I found these fuckin’ awesome relics treasures. So let’s go back to 2004, shall we? And lol at all the crazy things I did for the boys.
DBSK FANGIRL TRIVIA OF WIN AND LULZ (You may also consider this a source for Dong Bang fandom history in the country)!!!!
1. June 1, 2004 – Yours truly, along with Mishi, founded TVfXQ World- Philippines. This, my friends, is the predecessor of Cassiopeia Philippines. I think there were less than 100 Pinoy TVfXQ fans then and yes, we called them TVfXQ, with an F in the middle, bitch. Anna and Kai soon joined us and us four became the admins of the forum – TVfXQ World – Heaven.

This was our flash banner. It pwns your face.

The first ever TVXQ fandom gathering: Aug 2004. Starbucks, The Podium. Please don’t be overwhelmed by the number of attendees. We had give-aways, you know.
2. I don’t know if I should be proud of it but I believe I’m the first Filipino to write a YunJae fanfic. Yes, I shipped them. Six years ago. >___> In fairla, fans from different parts of the world followed and liked the story because I whored it like crazy. It was posted on Soompi, Solid07, In:Complete and DBSGee Yellow Monkey. Seriously, if you remember those forums, you’re ancient.

WHO THE FUCK IS CRIMSON_SOUL AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WAAIIII?!?! >___<;;;
3. I wrote a song for them. TRUE STORY. Are you sure you wanna listen to it? (OMG IDEA!!! On Cass Ph’s 8G, I will perform it. Live. And you can’t even do anything about it mwahahahahahahahaha!!!!)
4. I actually used to collect and save EVERY SINGLE PHOTO RELEASED ONLINE. I mean, who does that?!?! Thank you, maturity!

Huwaw. Can you believe this was actually the cover of my notebook 6 years ago? You mean I was inspired to learn while looking at that? /laughs with tears JYJHoMin oh!

I knew I liked Chang Min but I’ve forgotten how Max-biased I was! Look at how much he’s grown since! I cringe at the cuteness

Care to explain why I have a bling-y MAX bracelet? >__>
5. TVfXQ World Philippines sent them a package last November 2004, way before fanbooks and such became a trend. You think your expensive gift and fan art rock? Psh, please. Ours were incomparable. It was from Baguio, yanno. And because we were broke souls then, Mishi and I had to literally beg for money just to make sure the package was FedEx’d to Singapore on time. Our affiliate in Singapore delivered it to SM and hopefully, it reached the boys… somehow.

If you spot the boys sporting any of these, let it be known that it was from us. We had issues with the FedEx people because our package had potpourri. For fragrance.
6. I have no idea why I have this but If I must’ve asked a fangirl friend from the States to draw it or something. Or maybe I ganked it from the innarnetz. It’s been so long, I don’t remember but it’s crack and it’s making fun of Dong Bang Shin Ki so mebbeh it’s mine.

DBSG? Calling them by their English names? Gad, that’s soooo 2004! (Open the image in a new tab to read it ptoperly)
7. I wrote this fanfic called Kim Jae Joong: Exposed, which kind of earned a following because back then, writing comedy in Kpop fanficdom was an experimental thang. So the main plot was basically… Jae Joong is really a girl, who pretended to be a guy to become part of SM. Sounds familiar? Zip it and shut your face. I wrote it in ’04. Waaaayyy before Hana Kimi, Coffee Prince and the other gender bending dramas came out.

I found this fic again and after browsing through it, I felt kinda bad that I stopped writing it because it was crack like whoaaaahhh. And so I thought, maybe I could revive it? But the story line’s too passe now. Anyway, I even made animated chibis for the characters (with the help of a friend, of course, because suck at drawing)!!!

Micky Yoochun’s a muddaeffin’ casanova-ish pimp. Who has gonorrhea or something.

Changmin’s a fanboy. Of who, I don’t remember. Lee Hyori, maybe?

Yunho stinks like mad and is filthy and he has not a clue about it. His teeth are bad, too.

Junsu’s kinda slow up there in the head. No, more like… mentally challenged.

And of course, our heroine, Hero (pun ftw!). Bitchy and sexy and loves Se7en. Oh, she has a uterus, too!
I remember I had a lot of fun writing it but I have since moved fandoms and I don’t know the DBSK boys as much as I used to so continuing it might just end in utter failure.
8. Of course, we also had treats for all the Angels out there (we called the forum-goers, “Angels”, because our forum was “Heaven”). Fangirlism makes you cheesy.

We had a slogan? Seriously?
Whew. I can’t even believe it myself. I’m sure I’ve done much more for them back then but my neurons were killed in college so I don’t remember much. The fandom was really small back then and it was super hard to fangirl as internet was still 56k and youtube was non-existent. How the hell did we manage?
The boys have since become legends (and tattoo-ed at that) and I’m glad that they’ve somehow been a part of my teenage years. Sometimes, I wonder, what if we didn’t organize a group and just stuck to fangirling on Tsinoy and Soompi? What would be of Cass Ph now? Hmmm…
In the light of the recent events, I just want to give my two cents on the whole issue and I say this as an “older fangirl” (literally and figuratively): We are fans. Accept that. Idols are there to inspire you and make you happy/entertained and that’s it. Much as you think your life revolves around them, it does not, really. You will grow old, mature, move on and face the real world. They will, too. So just enjoy the fandom and do not take it too seriously. Do not let it consume you. Have fun and spread the love. Enough with the drama. It’s just a change of perspective, really. Trust me on this one. ^_~
