I Was Once A Kid

This post was influenced by this status going around Facebook:

“When I was a kid, I didn’t have a laptop, iPod, Blackberry, XBOX360, Wifi or designer clothes. I played outside with friends, bruised my knees, made up stories, and played hide and seek. I ate what my mom made. I would think twice before I say “no” to my parents. Life wasn’t hard, it was good & I survived. Re-post this if you appreciate the way you were raised.”

I really wanted to add more to that for a full blog post so I scoured my hard drive and online photo accounts for some childhood pics. And then I saw these – baby pictures that I’ve posted before on my other social networking page. Too bad I don’t have much photos from age 7 until I was a teenager but I’ll share these ones with you guys just to, I don’t know, piss you off? LOLZ.  Hey, I thought I was a cute kid and this is my blog, after all. Harhar! Enjoy and I really, genuinely hope that more children will have happy, normal and non-dysfunctional childhoods.

Barely a year old. My face was so round and chubby and I was just wearing a panty!

1 year old. With cousins Dang, Lala and Macky (shamelessly peeing his pants). Oh, and that was me throwing a tantrum.

2 years old. Struttin’ my stuff in a resort in Pangasinan (our province). My mother chose that swimwear, okay? Don’t judge me! Also, my pink shades pwn your face.

2 years old. For as long as I could remember, I’ve always wanted to entertain people. Dancing, singing, “acting”, eating fire, wresting pigs, anything! I realized early on though, that singing wasn’t for me.

2 years old. I liked to smile A LOT, too! Oh and please check out my legs. Mosquitoes feasted on them and my mom didn’t do anything about it!

2 years old. New Years Eve, wearing fashionable hats. Don’t they make those hats anymore?!

3rd birthday. Celebrating with the parentals at Manila Bay (or some park in Manila).

3 years old. Channeling my inner Japanese. I ended up looking more like an Eskimo though but it was cute~ ^^ This particular photo makes me tear up inside. I miss nanay…

3 years old. That’s supposed to be Super Inday. If you remember that movie, well, GOOD FOR YOU! Ahahahaha!

4 years old. First ever “public performance” for the fiesta. And no, those aren’t period costumes. That was the fashion at that time. LOLZ.

5 years old. At the Hinulugang Taktak, Antipolo. Is that place still even alive? Here I was, impersonating Hulk Hogan. Never thought that talent would come handy when I grow older.

Oh well, this post may seem nonsense but it was really fun! We grow up and we grow old but it doesn’t mean we have to stop being kids at heart (though if you’d like to be an adolescent again, with teenage issues and shit, go and have fun on your own)! And I’d really like to thank my parents for raising me that way that they did and for making sure that my brother and I had healthy, normal and non-traumatic childhoods.

I wonder what my kids would look like in the future. Will they be child prodigies? Will they be identical twins twins?! Wil they be……. half-Korean? *dun dun dun dun*

Just to be clear, this post was never about differences in generation or technology. I didn’t even compare my childhood to that of other kids. It’s about being allowed to be a child and being raised well by parents/guardians who love you. You know, not being sold off as slaves or forced to work in sweatshops / beg in the streets. More importantly, it’s about my bebe pics. Yup.
