EXCLUSIVE: Kim Hyun Joong Interview!

Written by Kring Elenzano on August 26th, 2011. Posted in Celebrity, Fangirl, Humor and Crack, Korea

OMG. I don’t even know where to begin.

Long story short, Philippine Kpop Committee, Inc. was granted a 15-min interview – on video – with Kim Hyun Joong for his Break Down promo tour. This was confirmed last month and since then, we’ve been anticipating the event. I want to give a shout out to former PKCI chair, Aya Villareal and Mirza (who’s also with Triple S Ph) for arranging everything for the team. Of course, to Polyeast Philippines for giving PKCI this opportunity.

Apologies in advance for the incoherence of this post but you cannot expect a fangirl to be sane in times like this. Earlier this afternoon, we went to EDSA Shangri-la for Kim Hyun Joong’s press conference and like the others, had to wait for about 2 hours before he came out. While waiting, I was able to chat up with fellow fangirls and man, I was even ambush-interviewed by MYX VJ, Bianca Roque before the show started when she saw me holding a paper with Hangul written on it! LOL. I ended up promoting the Kpop Convention hahaha (which is happening this December, by the way)!

At 4pm, he finally came out. Kim Hyun Joong came out looking mightily gorgeous. I think everyone in the room, men included, died inside a little soon as he stepped on stage and pwned everyone with his good looks and suplado charms.

I know this photo is shitty but even with this quality, you could see how hot Kim Hyun Joong  is.

Oh, funny thing. I kinda recognized his translator but I wasn’t really sure. Apparently, his English name is “Cooper” and unfortunately, when I met him last June, he was introduced with his Korean name. LOL FAIL. When I got home, I confirmed it. He’s actually my boyfriend’s sorta hoobae from their Koryan photo club.

HE LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME, RIGHT?!!?

It’s one of those times when you’d really say WTFLULZ out loud in real life. I sure did.

South Korea: Cosmetic Surgery Capital of the World

Written by Kring Elenzano on August 18th, 2011. Posted in Beauty and Fashion, Korea

I saw a post on a Korean free board earlier and even to my surprise, I broke into tears. The image affected me so much that I just had to translate the words and share it here. More than once have I written on my blog about how ugly I was growing up. So many insecurities that I brushed aside, thinking that if I just didn’t acknowledge them at all, they would go away. Behind that confidence, the sense of humor, the PR skills and the good grades was a burning desire to be beautiful. I thought, if I was just pretty like the other girls, everything would fall into place.

Thankfully, I’ve gotten over it without any self-destruction, and it was just a few years ago that I’ve stopped envying other girls because they’re pretty. Oh, thank you, maturity! I’d like to share this with everyone because it may make you see the beauty within you. I do not intend to offend any race or anyone in particular.

South Korea is the cosmetic surgery capital of the world. As of Summer 2010, it is indeed the country with the world’s highest per capita rate of cosmetic plastic surgery. When I was there, it wasn’t uncommon to see mothers with double eyelids, yet all their children are single-lidded. And unlike here where most of the people who get surgery are artistas/models or just really rich people, there, it’s common for normal people to undergo invasive plastic surgery.

At the end of the procedure, I’ll be as hot as Lee Hyori!

And the results?

Filipino Teleseryes vs. Korean Dramas

Written by Kring Elenzano on August 11th, 2011. Posted in Film and TV, Humor and Crack, Korea, Pop Culture

I know many people who enjoy watching local teleseryes and Koreanovelas. I may not be one of them but I sure am surrounded by family members and friends who literally spend hours each day following the lives of the dramas’ characters. I recently gave ‘Secret Garden’ a chance and watching it inspired me to this. With “extensive research” and hours of reading synopses, I came up with a chart, which showcases and differentiates the cliches of Filipino teleseryes and Korean dramas. Yes, I made this shit myself on Photoshop and I don’t know why I suddenly have so much time in my hands (I don’t).

Admit it, you know it’s true.
