How I Met Kring
Many many years ago, my former block mate, Esther wrote about how we met. It was in Taglish and was just downright hilarious. I chanced upon it again on my old LJ blog while I was looking for pictures and thought OMG this must be shared here! I’ve translated it to English but I’m afraid I didn’t do justice to her awesome sense of humor. Anyway, check it out!

Okay, read this. My historic meeting with Kringkarot. Bwahahahaha!!
May 20xx. A day before the enrollment. 7:00 pm. I just arrived back from Singapore.
“Darn it! If not for that UST enrollment, I’d still be enjoying my vacation. I’m sure tomorrow I’d meet a lot of random people who’d be asking ‘Hi, what’s your name? What course are you taking up?’ Hahahaha… Oh well. It’s always like that anyway, right?” I thought to my self. Boy, was I wrong.
The next day I fixed myself up. I mean, for all I know, I could’ve met my knight-in-shining-armor there.
7:00 am. So there I was entering the gates of the campus. I fell in line as I thought I was late and was supposed to be there the day prior. However, that guard who looked like a penguin was bitching on us so I had to change queues.
I spotted this girl wearing a blue top and a white skirt. That wasn’t Kring yet. She’s Mikah, a girl who also became our classmate in freshman year. We befriended each other with typical introductions like “Excuse me, you’re enrolling, too? What are you majoring in?” Ohhh yessss. After that, we went inside the building.
While I was in the assessing room where we had to fall in line again, I spotted a girl who was accompanied by her father. One of the assessors asked her, as she filled out her form, “Why are you majoring in CA (Communication Arts)?” Oh my, this girl totally as in totally, boldly answered “Because I want to be an actress”, whilst flipping her hair! WHOW OH WHOW!!! Her confidence killed me! Apparently, the woman knew her father and said while shaking her head, “Uhm, sir… are you sure she’s your daughter?”

FYI this was how I looked like when we met. Seventeen and wazzzaque!
Excuse the ugly. It’s part of growing up.
And so that scene’s done. We were all asked to move to another room because we were terribly noisy. All of a sudden when I sat down… MY HOLY MOTHER OF TRANSVESTITE COWS!!! The ‘girl’ was already my seatmate!!! I tried to ignore her at first and instead chatted with the person to my right because I kind of knew her.
Then, as I turned my head towards this ‘girl’, she smiled (WHOAH WHAT A KILLER SMILE!!!) and said “Do you know what we’re waiting here for?” to which I answered “Uhm, I’m not really sure.”
As if not yet contented with her question, she asked once more. “What’s your course?”
“Communication Arts”, I said.
“Why did you take up that course?”
“(Please bitch, is this an interview?) I don’t know. I guess I want to be in the field of media, especially in broadcasting.”
So it was my turn to ask her “How about you, why CA? (as if I didn’t know already, duh…)”
And you better get ready with her answer, “I want to be an actress, you know. Then I’ll shift to directing but I think UST’s not offering that course so I’m planning to take it abroad.”
“Oh, I see. By the way my name’s Esther, what’s yours?
“k*&^%” (WTFWUT)
“Huh? I’m sorry?”
“Kring.”
“Kring???”
“Yup.” putting her hand up like a telephone. Just try to imagine. If you still can’t, approach me and I’d show you. “It’s Kring.”
“Oh okay… Kring.”
Take note. At that time, we had talked about so many things already and I wasn’t even sure if she remembered my name!!! Imagine, in that same day, same time, same place, I already knew that her father was a professor in the university and she was from Sacred Heart and so on and so forth…
And she was even speaking in English that everyone around her was just blown away. Literally. No kidding, it was ssssoooo funny! I had to change seats so she’d just bug the others and repeat her story to them.
What I never saw coming was on the first day of classes, she was already wreaking havoc in our room!!! WE WERE CLASSMATES!!! And I mean her powers were raised to the 1000th degree! Exponentially outrageous. The things that you thought only crazy people could do, only extraordinary creatures can accomplish, those out-of-this-world things… Believe me, I swear Kring can totally carry it out.
Now that I’m in second year, with Batman as my witness, it’s still the same. We’re classmates once again!!!
And that’s the story of how I met Kring. Can somebody beat that??? Just try.
Hey Kringkarot… do you still remember that? Oh don’t even bother, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to want to reminisce about it again. Bwehehehe. Bwahahaha. Peace. Mwah! Labs you!

My last photo with Thei six years ago. In the plane, on our flight to Malaysia!
Hmmm… that made me wonder what people’s first impressions of me are. I’ve never heard anyone say “you know, I thought you were shy/anti-social when I met you…” Hahaha! But of course, over the years I believe I have matured already. Still, this story’s pretty crack, don’t you think?
Love you, Thei! Belated happy birthday (January 12) and congratulations on your wedding (January 5)!!! Oh, how time flies!
