2012 Will Be Awesome!
MABUHAY, 2012!
It seems like it was only yesterday when I wrote my first entry for 2011 and now I’m writing my first blog post again for this year. This past year had been a big eye-opener for me in so many ways. I left my day job for the first time in years and followed my heart. To be honest with you, I’m not so sure what I got out of it or what I was following exactly but I sure did learn a lot.
I do not believe in New Year’s resolutions but I believe in goal-setting. I also believe that when a door closes, the roof gets swept by the wind and you’ll be left with a sky full of opportunities. Though there had been difficulties, 2011 had been an amazing and blessed year and in the last quarter it made me realize that perhaps, I was looking the wrong way all along. Hence, I’m re-focusing my goals for 2012.To make things easier for me to track, I will cross out a goal soon as it has been accomplished!
I claim that this year…

The Social Media Envy
Have you ever been envious of someone because that person is always out traveling and enjoying life? Do you sometimes wish you could trade places with that girl who constantly blogs about her collection of clothes, shoes and make-up? Can you not help but compare yourself to your former classmates, whom you only get to interact with on Facebook, who now have their own condos, brand-new cars and they even attend the hottest events?
Well, surprise surprise! You’re not alone, my dear. It’s but human nature to think that our mundane existence sucks more hairy balls than other people’s colorful lives. And with the onset of blogs and social media, it just became much easier to brag about EVERYTHING and feel insecure about ANYTHING.

C’mon. We all know pink swarovski WILL take the blues away.
I read about this on Cracked.com (my favorite non-social media website) a few months back. It perfectly explained the psychology behind Social Media Envy and I won’t even pretend that I can explain it to you better. Hence, here’s an exerpt:
We’ve all read interviews with celebrities, or maybe even friends’ blogs, in which they go on and on about how great their lives are, and we wonder what horrible shit we must have done in a past life to be dealt the hand we’ve got now. Bills, relationships, family, jobs … everything just sucks. Meanwhile, everyone else in the world is running around with their sex and money and interesting hobbies. Sure, those people might have some minor inconveniences from time to time, but not like you.
Tatt Awards
I am really excited to be part of this project. You just can’t see it but I’m internally spazzing now and even flailing my arms. Because I’m animated like that.
As some of you may know, 95% of Filipinos online are active in social media. That includes you, me, our parents, our neighbor’s pets, and even the MMDA. For that, the country has been dubbed the “Social Networking Capital of the World”. We sure love communicating, huh? We still are, afterall, the Texting Capital of the World.
With this whole “social media revolution” going on, Tattoo has responded by creating the first-ever Tatt Awards, a series of accolades celebrating Filipinos who share Tattoo’s fiery passion and who have used that energy to create a strong and unforgettable social media presence. AND YOU KNOW EEET!

According to Dong Ronquillo, Tattoo Head of Nomadic Broadband Business, “Tattoo is all about making your mark and your own personal definition of greatness. The Tatt Awards is our venue to recognize those individuals that through their passion and individuality have created a space that is uniquely theirs, but sincerely shared with others.”
